CRACK PROBLEM

Team Troy, a group of largely virgin candidates lead by Council President Rodney Wiltshire, seemed united and organized when the campaign season began. They put up a decent fight for the Democratic line but largely lost their races. Then, they decided to move forward and actively campaign on the WFP line.

Have some cracks emerged in this formerly united team? After all, they billed themselves as Team Troy and we all know, there is no I in Team Troy.

At-Large candidate Anasha Cummings is informing people that he is running on his own and is not one of Wiltshire's people. Cummings has always professed his independence from the usual machine-type politics of Troy but to suggest he's not one of Wiltshire's Get is disingenuous.

The Team Troy facebook page has not been updated since August 3, 2015.

Councilman Bob Doherty (D-4) is privately telling people to vote Madden because he's afraid that Gordon will win. The Councilman has also removed the Wiltshire signs that once adorned his property. Others have said that while the door-to-door campaign was prevalent before the primary, it has dropped off  precipitously in the past few weeks.

We don't know if something has happened (another woman perhaps) or the Team has been too busy electioneering to operate in a unified fashion. Sources close to the Troy Polloi have pointed to some strain in priorities and money. A few of the Team believe that they may have been used by the head of the ticket. If you've heard something, do tell.

We hope the rumors are largely unfounded. We liked the Team Troy experiment and even though we believe they could spoil a race or two for the Democrats, they have made it more exciting and far more colorful than it would have been otherwise. It would be physically painful to spend our time writing about Tom Casey, Wayne D'Arcy et. al. No offense to them. They just are not that exciting.

I had such high hopes for Anasha. He may be informing people that he is independent of Rodney, but there is a picture of him campaigning with Rodney on October 24th. (See RW FB page) If you want my vote Anasha you better say it louder and clearer. You stay attached to Rodney's hip, no vote from me.

Some trouble is brewing. I am not entirely sure but it looks like they were al supposed to be equal partners in all things. Wiltshire wanted to be more equal than some others.

SEEN: Jim Gordon and the missus trick or treating in the Burgh dressed as Chris Brown and Rhianna, Harry and McAsshion strolling in Sycaway as Zed and the Gimp. Happy Halloween, Trojans.

I had a Team Troy member tell me yesterday they're distancing themselves from him as much as possible.

Picture of Anasha at Rodney's fundraiser on October 28th. Independent of Rodney? Really???

There is no such thing as equal in Rodney's world. Some were used, others not.

Team Troy supporters are jumping ship. Republicans are coming over to Madden. Republican women won't vote Gordon because of 911 tape. Republican men who are concerned about fiscal state of Troy know Madden is the man.

It is a tricky balancing act to try to build a bridge between increasingly disparate groups, but that is something that I will continue to do, unapologetically. Both "sides" have mythology about the other, both "sides" have strengths and weaknesses. I won't be forced into playing high-school cliquish games with the important work of governing our city.

This an election, not the 7th grade lunch room. Where you stand and who you stand with is important. Building bridges is a good idea, but the bridge you are building with Rodney leads to Gordon as the Mayor. Wise up.

Now, Less Than Ever said...

There was a time I was ready to vote for Anasha. That time has passed. You are not balancing, you are no different than what you claim to be against. Who you choose to stand with & near matters.
Wasting our time with that pointless link? One minute seventeen seconds I'll never get back. Get over yourself, you're not all that clever.

Anasha, when you refer to the divides as "cliquish" you are insulting the people in both (or three?) camps.

I'm sure some people have less than noble reasons for picking a side, but just as many, if not more, have real, substantive reasons for choosing the side they have chosen. When you dismiss these reasons as simple high school drama then you mock the people who have them.

I have no doubt that you care about Troy. You seem smart and have some good ideas. However, you do not seem to take people who don't agree with your vision seriously. This is a mistake. If you want to govern people, you have to respect their right to have their own opinions.

Amen 6:06. Anasha, you're smart enough to realize the bridge you're building leads to GOP victories they'd NEVER get otherwise. If that happens, your political career with the Dems is over. Wake up!

Team Troy is falling apart because Rodney took the money and the spotlight and didn't play nice? Now there's a surprise. This has been predicted for months. Did they not meet Rodney before they signed on? Did they not look at his record on the Council? Rodney has never been a team player, it always has been and always will be about him and his ambitions. Couldn't play nice with the Democrats, couldn't play nice with The Mayor and the administration, so why is Team Troy the least bit surprised about how they have been treated?

8:54 Why are you surprised. Why would any woman, including Republican women vote for Gordon, after the, you know, "incident." Do you approve of his behavior? Do you condone it?

Why would you want to vote for Gordon. Such a pussy, couldn't even face the TU editorial board. Women don't like him and what self-respecting man could like him.

Anonymous said...

Yup. Ran and hid from the mean ol press like a spoiled child. Yet another indication of what kind of man he really is.

EVERY woman I have talked to, Republican, Democrat, Independent, Blank refuses to vote for Gordon. It wasn't just the 911 tape it was his less than compelling explanation of it. His refusal to meet with the TU editorial board sealed it. Wearing a Domestic Violence Awareness pin to the TWC debate was appalling.

8:54 Your candidate is a steaming pile of shit. IF he wins, he'll ONCE AGAIN win only by default. We all know if it weren't for Rodney, Jim Gordon could run against a baboon with head lice and still end up with only 25% of the vote.

Think about it said...

Anasha, you have some really creative ideas for Troy. You have zero chance of having them realized if Jim Gordon is Mayor. I don't care how you do it, privately, publicly, smoke signals, messages hidden in your beard....tell your supporters to vote for Madden.

Even Kathy Jiminos is throwing her support to Madden.

The highest ranking elected Republican in Rensselaer County has crossed lines and now supports Patrick Madden

Jim Gordon would slap McCasion around too.

Maybe Jimbo can get a job with Wiltshire after Madden sends them both packing. Jimbo holds a patent on holding women and solar panels down.

Anonymous said...

I wonder if Crist approved of Jiminos endorsement of Madden. Hmmmm

Anonymous said...

I wonder if Crist can feel the power slipping away.

Team Troy seems like an exercise in futility. I can see it for primary purposes but what's the point now.

Anonymous said...

Even a few of Rodney's next door neighbors took down the Rodney signs they had on their lawn and put up Madden's, that speaks volumes.

Rodney never even went to their "headquarters" because he didn't want to be associated with Anastasia and her little buddy "Rev" Tiny Tim. Rodney is your best friend until you no longer serve a purpose. "Team" Troy flopped so he's moved on to the next sucker. Think it would be any different if he got elected? If so, think again because it would be nothing short of corruption if he did get in.

Doherty, Cummings and Kownack to announce support of Madden today at 2 pm at Freedom Square Park. Will ask Rodney to do the same. They know it's over. Jolene was sobbing after late night meeting where they told Rodney their plan.

Republican gordon works for Republican Jimino. Republican Jimino knows Gordon's ability through his political hack job.
Republican Jimino comes out for Democrat Madden.
Timing is perfect.
Say good night Gordon. It's over.
Wiltshire is not a factor anymore.

Where did Jimino endorse Madden? Don't see it on facebook.

My friend with Team Troy says announcement moved to 3:00PM. Kownack, Cummings Doherty and now Jenkins to announce support for Madden.

Bissember to do a letter to editor on the same issue but I find that unlikely.

Nope, he's furious. But McCashion promised him a backrub later.
