DISTRICT 4

DISTRICT 4

District 4 is the Manhattan of Troy. The Cilias in Troy's economic erection. This is the district with  the shops, the Farmer's Market, a cup of coffee on every corner and one in the middle. Here you'll find the events that attract people to Troy: the Pigout, Chowderfest, Troy Night Out and Pig Fest. Maybe it's more like Brooklyn, without the skinny jeans.

Geography: Urban and commercial, with just a small dollop of the suburban, on the side.

Past Electoral History:

2009

B. Dunne - D 379
N. Helper - R 149

2011

B. Doherty - D 348
D. Lockrow - R 245

2013

Doherty - D 332
D. Lockrow - 240

Enrollment:
D - 1020
R - 276
C - 82
W - 64
I - 117
Blank - 580

The most reliable Democratic district, even without fraud, the Republicans are not even running a candidate in District 4. Well, maybe. The Wadocrats did run a candidate in the primary. Barbara Jones Higbee ran her primary campaign like it was 1999. It showed in the results.

Contestants:

Bob Doherty -D

Known as BDo,  Doherty is running for his third term. By now, we know that Bob has some issues. He is a very kind man but also over-educated. One of those smart people who are paralyzed when faced with two choices, neither of which can guarantee completely positive results. He shares this trait with fellow councilman Ken Zalewski. They are handwringers, sensitive to micro-aggressions, and afraid to commit to a course of action. This is a particularly Democratic affliction, being afraid to make a mistake, thereby committing mistakes. There is, of course, the Republican affliction: the inability to conceive they have made a mistake. Doherty went to bat for Kokopellis. 'Nuff said.

Joseph Navarra - R*

Probably the worst candidate and person to ever run for office in Troy. Nah! Just kidding. We're sure he's a good guy. No, we aren't. We will assume he is, though. We just can't find anything about Mr. Navarra. He has a facebook page but we saw nothing political. Has he dropped out? Is he not actively campaigning? We haven't even seen one lawn sign (unless McGrath took them down). We just don't know the status of his candidacy. Perhaps he volunteered his name but isn't inclined to campaign.

Collin Fox Thomas - G

We hate this guy, with  a blazing passion. Can't help it. It's the fucking name - Collin Fox Thomas. Look, he's probably a great guy. Nicest guy in the world. He probably swings by the shelter to feed rescue dogs before he spends his afternoon with homeless vets and one-legged kids in wheelchairs. So, we know it's shallow, but its the name. It reminds us of one of the those late '80's early '90's child stars on a  family sitcom. You know, the precocious younger child who's really cute and smart and outsmarts his older siblings and his parents. But,  by the time he's 19, he's no longer cute and the fact that he can't act now matters. Then, he wraps his expensive European sports car around a telephone pole, crippling his girlfriend and then he's off to celebrity rehab and possibly a reality television show. Sorry, just had to get that off our chests. Thanks for listening. Sorry Collin.

*An actual photograph of Mr. Navarra. Don't say anything. He's self-conscious about it.

Bravo D - but you left out one important fact - B-Doh is just dangerous. In all the years I've been following T- Politics, I've never seen anyone more dangerous, or detrimental to the future of this city. B-Doh's thought process just baffles me, and many others I'm sure. Being an over- educated idiot is no excuse. His actions in the past should have gotten him thrown off the council.

Doherty will crush his opponents. This is a solid D district. Wonder why the R's just don't sit this one out.

Classic post. I hope Collins has a sense of humor. Maybe he is running because there are not enough trees to hug downtown. Gotta agree with 1.18, if Lockrow gets beat badly, why bother? One interesting note, there was very little drop off in turnout from 2011 to 2013.

Why is it so hard to say. 500 lb elephant in the room. Doherty is losing it. He's been deteriorating for years.

Anonymous said...

Has he changed all that much these past few years. A follower not a leader. Thing is, he, along with some others, makes mountains out of mole hills and create chaos. That settlement for 25k is case in point. He starts asking questions on the day of the vote, follows Rodster's lead and they have to call a special meeting. Then they end up settling anyway.

I find it disturbing ( no pun intended to B-Doh) that Democratus himself and all the posters have acknowledged this individual is not up for the job. Yet he's a dem, vote for him anyway. He's your guy.

Anonymous said...

Ok Mr Republican, let us know when you vote for a democrat

Anonymous said...

I don't think anyone is saying vote for him. Democratus' post didn't seem like a rousing endorsement at all. The other people here don't seem to be supporters either. So, I could be missing your point.

Phana24JG said...

I didn't read a big endorsement, more of an acknowledgment of the inevitable. I also don't fully buy into the over- and/or highly educated assertions. Spouting social science buzzwords is not that complicated.

Anonymous said...

I haven't heard him spout off about the latest cop assault case. B-Doh and Rodster must understand it's election time.

Can't satisfy his tax judgments and can't satisfy me. Poor Kevin.

Education and thoughtfulness are really a problem in Troy.

Anonymous said...

Where will the going away party be held for Troy Polio's own Robert Cox? They are losing an instru'mental' cog in their machine. And who will Drew drive around with now? Sad times in Troy.

Phana24JG said...

David, point taken. However, thoughtfulness when combined with pandering tendencies often leads to vacillation, which I guess is what others are saying.

911 tape said...

Free at last

Anonymous said...

Story still up, recording is down. Wonder if Mcashion captured it and would have the balls to put it up.

Anonymous said...

He wouldn't even if he had it. Claims to be non partisan but he' a GOP stooge.

Anonymous said...

Settle down, Kevin. We know you feel like the Troy Polloi came into town and shit all over your little twitterbation thing. That's because he did. Every time you write polio we all know it's you. It's as clear as your tax warrants.

Guy Fawkes said...

How soon before there's a statement on how political the release of the 911 tape was? Just a moment between a husband and wife.

Anonymous said...

Tape is a copy of one that was requested by the Troy PD . The request was made by them to be sure that no additional action needed to be taken. That was the finding by Troy PD.

Anonymous said...

This blog is holding me down. I just want this blog to leave

Anonymous said...

If this was Dunne they would be all over it. But alas, no actual evidence against Dunne. But we know how one pol treats his lady.

Anonymous said...

She was told she regretted calling the police or else!

Anonymous said...

Is it legal ----and obviously it had to be a cop- to release a 911 tape for said cops own political agenda - when no charges were filed? I'm still undecided on my vote between Mr Madden or Mr Gordon btw. I know how nasty Troy politics can get - but I'm also married, and have had bad arguments with my wife. She has in the past tried to scratch my face,in the heat of the moment - I needed to hold her down till she cooled off. So if I'm some of you -- look within your own closets before casting stones. If he hit her, he would of been arrested.

Anonymous said...

So it's that tax cheat dirtbag who is obsessed with this blog Cox and Cooper. Asshole, pay your tax warrants !!

You poor sad person

3.05, appreciate the objective take. I think we knew it was coming. I am a little surprised by the timing. It gives the opposition time to gauge the impact, and then decide if a counterattack is in order. This would be perfect 20 yrs ago, but in today's world, events move much faster. I was very surprised that Kathy Jimino made a statement. Talk about wandering into a minefield. Like her or not, the woman has no fear.

Get the four-wheel vehicles out folks, as the rednecks say "we're going mudding. "

NYSP have been called in. Tape released from TPD illegally. Tedesco has again turned the tables on the criminals. This could wind up being a Gordon on Gordon on Gordon crime!

Anonymous said...

Why sugar coat it? The man is insane.

Anonymous said...

If the NYSP are brought in the case is over before it starts.

Anonymous said...

Push pull now the illegal tape leaked. Madden will do anything to win. Lost my family vote this past week. Let's go Gordon.

Anonymous said...

Is it really illegal to release a 911 tape? Troy polio legal beagles Cox, Cooper and Democratus seem to believe in their world it is. I'm sure they're on strong legal ground.

Anonymous said...

Smells like Bill Dunne around here. I guess he's staying after this.

Anonymous said...

Obsessed much 9:36? You need help!

Anonymous said...

Recording is on the TROY NY page

Anonymous said...

Holding her down until she cools off is unlawful imprisonment. Yes some of us (myself included) have had domestic issues, and similar situations happen in our homes. But guess what, we aren't running for mayor! Don't you see the difference?

Anonymous said...

Madden didn't release the tape and is quoted in the story saying it was wrong that it was made public.

Anonymous said...

I laughed out loud when I saw Jimino is demanding an investigation. I guess she doesn't realize the department releasing the tape is under her control. She is demanding an investigation of her own administration. What a dumbass! I love watching the GOP under fire. It just keeps getting better.

I guess you don't realize that there is a software record of every single time any 911 call is looked at . 911 DISPATCH is in the clear. The call was a relay from Albany County as it was made on a cell phone. They too are in the clear. There was one copy made at the request of the Troy Police. Jimino has investigate the department under her control and is telling you that the Troy PD needs to do the same. Stop being a
DEM -ass.

OldSmoke27 said...

Bullshit, Anonymous @ 3:05 pm.
You are not undecided.
You've probably been waiting to post that since the story first broke in July.
If he was anyone else, he would have been arrested.

Anonymous said...

"Madden didn't release the tape...." Yes your probably right.....here Bill get this tape out.

Battered and Bruised said...

Are you at all concerned about what is on the tape? Or is that just business as usual for Troy's GOP?. No one appears shocked at the content. Only feigned indignation at its release.

TaxMe said...

How does McCashion have time to work on those boilers when he's commenting here all the time.

Anonymous said...

5:22 You do know that Bill has had no role in Madden's campaign. No role at all, much to his chagrin. Looks like you're not in the know and are just repeating GOP bullshit.

Anonymous said...

You guys crack me the fuck up. Your so upset by this husban/wife argument (that's what the police called it) yet you all embrace Bill Dunne. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH. Now the guy that defends Dunne asking for prof all the time go back a couple of story's ago someone posted that the paperwork prof of Bill Dunnes "extracurricular activities" could be found on a certain Twitter account. That post was removed from the blog. I'm sure this post will never make it to the blog.

Anonymous said...

There cannot be a twitter account with proof because there is no proof. What twitter account? If you mean the agreement, I already explained to you it doesn't prove what you said it proves. Try again. All rumors. With Gordon we have facts.

Anonymous said...

No proof? He can never apply for a job there again and cannot step foot in the building? Yea I guess they both just went on their merry ways.

Anonymous said...

He cannot work there. That is in the agreement. It does not say he can't go there. It also does not say why he resigned. You have no facts yet continue to believe rumors. We're you there. This is why people hate politics.

Anonymous said...

What difference does Bill Dunne make in this story? Except to deflect from the subject at hand, a domestic abuse incident. Bill Dunne, Bob Cox, this one, that one. Naming people who have nothing to do with the domestic abuse scandal is just a pitiful, ineffective attempt to divert attention away from a very shady incident by the republican party mayoral candidate. Once again, a wrong tact to take. Every move they make politically blows up in their faces. Its funny!

Phana24JG said...

9.57, I have to indirectly agree with you. If I were advising the Reps, I would respond very differently. Clearly, there are some incidents AS A TROY OFFICIAL that Mr. Dunne can be questioned about, but frankly, unless you have a smoking gun, who cares? It will be interesting to see what the general response will be.

Anonymous said...

Oh dear. Jim Gordon wore a domestic violence pin at debate. Someone forgot to tell him it's for prevention of DV, not support of it. D'oh!

I am Sam said...

He couldn't satisfy me either.
