A CALL TO ARMS

Listen up, citizens of Troy. Actually, this post is addressed solely to those who will, under no circumstances, vote for James Gordon (R). Hate to be exclusive, Gordonites. Feel free to read the post or, if you like, you can wait for us in the lounge. Try the Romanee-Conti and the Almas Beluga. But no double-dipping.

One of the non-Gordon candidates will get more votes than the other. We believe Madden will get more votes. Partly because Madden has a major party line. Undecided voters are not agonizing between supporting Madden or Gordon. Or Wiltshire or Gordon. People are deciding between Madden and Wiltshire.

If Wiltshire supporters believe not that he can win, but that he will win, then they can stop reading now. Good luck to you and God speed. If you are undecided, please consider the following.

Wiltshire, and to a lesser extent his ticket mates, may believe they will win. If so, see above. If you are unsure, ask yourselves why Wiltshire persists, as does Bissember, Cummings, Kownack et. al.

1. Spite. Wiltshire did not get the Democratic nomination, hates Wade.... so he does not care if he burns the house down.

2. Wiltshire knows the split vote means a Gordon victory. Wiltshire plans a takeover of the Democratic Committee at the next Committee elections. He will also try and run again in two years or try and unseat Gordon in four years.  He does not want to wait eight years.

The second option does not require a third party run this year. It may be time for Wade to finally step aside. Wiltshire and his folks have shown a talent for organizing a ground game. With some patience and another year to grow, they probably could control the committee. Or make great gains in that direction.

The first option, even if there's a hint of truth, is simply inexcusable. We prefer to believe that Wiltshire's motives are not he result of spite.

If you believe that Wiltshire's run may give us Jim Gordon as mayor, you're right. There is every chance that Wiltshire will take enough votes from Madden to saddle us with a Gordon administration. If Wiltshire seeks to reform the party, no one can deny such an effort is past due. So reform the party. Don't destroy it.

Ask yourself how a Gordon victory in any way advances the WFP agenda. Madden will listen and work with you. Will Gordon will do the same? Why would he? Why should he? While Gordon would actually owe his election to Wiltshire voters he will owe them nothing. Does that escape Team Troy? Not everyone. Councilman Bob Doherty (D-4) has told numerous people that Gordon cannot be elected and that they should vote for Madden. Yet, he won't do it publicly.

We hate to pick on Anasha Cummings. We like Anasha. We think he offers something different for the City of Troy. He is not going to win. He may take enough votes to effect the at-large race. He does not seem to get real politik, treating the election as a lark.

Anasha's campaign video and jingle was different and cute. We don't need cute. Anasha, this is serious business. Troy faces a number of problems and those bobbling heads at Famous Lunch won't be smiling when Gordon is sitting in City Hall. Time to grow up. This is not a game.

Bissember probably will take enough votes and give District 5 Tom Casey. David, why do you want Tom Casey to win Ken's old seat? How does that help you or your supporters? How does that advance your agenda.

Anyone is entitled to run for any office they desire. They don't have to do it on a major party line. They do not have to bow out because they can have an effect on the race disproportionate to their support. Ask Ralph Nader. We would just ask those undecided to truly consider the impact their Wiltshire vote may have on the future of the city. You cannot possibly believe that Gordon and people like Mark Wojcik will in any way advance your agenda. They can't possibly believe Gordon will be a better steward of the city than Pat Madden.

We are not asking you to believe that Patrick Madden will be a great mayor. We hope he is a good one. We are not asking you to believe that Patrick Madden will be a better mayor than Wiltshire. Only that he will be better and more responsive to you than Gordon.

We'd ask anyone with any influence at all, be it facebook or another medium, to consider this and perhaps change their support to Madden. Bring what influence they have to prevent a Gordon administration. If they can't, we understand.

In the end, everyone is free to vote for the candidate they choose. If their vote results in a mayor anathema to their beliefs, so be it. That's democracy. Just don't bitch and moan when Mayor Gordon and his crew refuse to listen to you. With Madden you'll have clout. With Gordon, disdain.

Sorry for the somber post. We'll walk through the numbers in another post and let you decide if our analysis is sound or alarmist.

It's tricky, I made my mind up to support Rodney because I incorrectly thought he would easily win the Democratic nomination, after all, he was the top vote getter in the at large race so we know he can get the votes. Then, dirty Troy politics took over. I don't know Steve Madden he seems to be a good guy and he is running a passionate race, but am having a hard time with how he won the Democratic primary. Ernest Everetts primary run cost Rodney the Democratic nod. The fact is Ernest used invalid signatures and shouldn't even have been on the ballot dampens my support of Madden. I feel (and many others do too) that Madden indirectly stole the Democratic line from Rodney. Rodney is campaigning hard, he wants the job and he was screwed out of it by Mr Everett. This should be a heads up race between Rodney and Gordon. That being said, as a Rodney supporter, I think Rodney should bow out of the race, mend some broken fences with Wade and Bill Dunne to assure a Gordon loss

While we all want to see the best in people, there is none in Wiltshire. Lou did a horrible job. He should never have been Mayor, but he should have been treated with respect and Rodney never did. He did all he could to burn Lou down and now his target is Wade. He does not see a Gordon administration as an obstacle, just a delay. He will burn it down to get what he wants. His ego is that big.

6:39 You assume Everett votes would go to Rodney. Maybe but I think the point is, despite all that, even if you blame Madden, do you want Gordon.

May not be fair in the eyes of many Wiltshire folks. It's just a simple question. Either answer if fine. Lets just be clear about what we are doing.

I don't think Wiltshire has to mend fences with anyone. Just don't give Gordon a win he couldn't get one-on-one.

Why should we care about your lofty democratic at any means strategy? Look at what you Dems did to this damn city in the last 4 years?
And oh yeah, I get it. Harry and the barbecue sauce and he's a tyrant blah blah blah.
I'd take 10 Harry's over any of these losers including Gordon. A violent retard isn't a good option either.

Just like Madden couldn't have won one on one? Hypocrites.

This on their knees begging is what happens when political appointees who are otherwise unemployable see the end is near.

Sorry Steve said...

Who is Steve Madden? Whoever he is I'm not voting for him. I'm voting for Patrick Madden.

Demo, you have made a cogent and rational argument for the Rodney/WFP contingent for this election, but I believe you have not fully explored option 2. Please note, I do not know any of the WFP crowd and am merely guessing about their motives and tactics, and am certainly not familiar with the inner workings of your party. This is only an outsider's viewpoint with no dog in the hunt.

If the game plan is control the party, they may believe that a strong showing by Rodney and the WFP can give them additional ammunition to accomplish the task. Obviously, some will reply that "all they will do is create more enemies!" They may believe they have already made those enemies, and any additional ill-will generated will be more than offset by the additional leverage they hope to gain. They may also be looking longer-term. In the event they are not successful, the 2017 election cycle sets up much better for them. If the new charter passes(and I think it will), 6 of 7 seats will be districts, where it is far easier for a relatively poorly-funded, but with far more active foot soldiers oriented party to run successfully. You have already documented what happens to turnout in non-mayoral years, and they may believe that with some more experience, they will be in a position to capture a couple of seats. Had they done any homework with absentees, Bissember would have won, and they will obviously not make that mistake the next time. Finally, they may think that even if they cannot win, they may be able to make Tom Wade and other major players lives so miserable that Tom may opt to retire and they can take over, or at least forge an alliance more on their terms with his successor.

710 that's crap. Lou had two big problems. Wiltshire did all he could to undermine Lou and it worked. Second was no instinct for public relations. Good things happen in troy. The citizens aren't down. Talk to business owners and people downtown. It's only the GOP propaganda machine with Quisling Wiltshire that trash Troy. Madden will win.

Anonymous said...

Yes, Patrick Madden

Anonymous said...

7:10 since you would take Harry over any of these candidates? For real? The you must have been happy with the job be did as mayor, am I right in assuming that? You are the only one who thinks that way

Anonymous said...

I can't do it. As much as I want Rodney the thought of that boy in city hall is sickening many women are troubled by his behavior. I'll vote Madden but he better treat Wiltshire people with respect.

Anonymous said...

By staying in the race, Rodney has ruined his political future with local and state Democrats. He won't survive as a minor party candidate for long. If he draws enough votes to give this election to Gordon, people will always remember him as the spoiler not a statesman.

Anonymous said...

9:16 has Rodney treated the Madden campaign with respect?

Anonymous said...

Has anyone considered the possibility that Gordon promised a nice little post to Rodney if he stays in? Both their egos seem like it could be something to consider.

Anonymous said...

That promise vanished as soon as Mrs. Gordon dialed 911

Anonymous said...

11:53. Madden could have promised Rodney the job he had set aside for Everett the hero. That' s the only one not going to his not for profit pals and their kids so they can look down thier noses at you Wade scum.

Vespasian here, and having ascended to the position of Emperor of Rome back when that meant something, I think I might have something valuable to add to Democratus' commentary. Whoever wishes to win should simply call upon the Praetorian Guard to support their claim to the Mayorship. Seeing as there are not many Praetorian Guard in Troy these days I realize that this may seem like silly advice - but just think of the effect of going door-to-door with the ghosts of a legion of Rome's finest behind your back! I guaranty there would be no dog bites.

And another thing. . . has everyone forgotten that "the enema of my enemy is my friend?" So let's all go to the drug store, arm-up and get the win!

steve madden is who cooper was talking about on his troy page...has a lot to say but doesnt even know the candidates that are running..lol

Anonymous said...

so lets assume cooper wrote that post, there is not 2 people in this city that think maddens name is steve...hahaha

No one with a brain could possibly believe a candidate can win on Row E alone. Rodney may have his flaws but stupidity isn't one of them. He knows he can't win. That means he's in it to spoil. My guess is that he's willing to risk a Gordon win not because Gordon promised him anything (you'd be nuts to trust them even if they did) but because it sets up a Wade overthrow. And maybe there are committee Dems who are ready for Wade to step down. But what Rodney doesn't consider is that the Dems with Wade fatigue, the Dems whose votes he'd need, will NEVER support him or any of his minions. If they vote Wade out, they won't do it for Rodney.

Rodney dug his political grave staying in this race. I hope he gets comfortable, because he's going to be lying in it for a good long while.

Anonymous said...

I know a lot of Dems who voted for Rodney in the primary but are voting for Madden now, myself included. Madden is the Democrat candidate. I think enough people understand the effect third party candidates have that Rodney will lose by much more than predicted.

Tony said...

Those who want respect, give respect.

Anonymous said...

It's not Maddens fault Ernie screwed up his signatures and Rodney couldn't get his shit together to challenge it. Wtf?

God Help Us said...

I think he's a mongoloid myself, but why split hairs.

Anonymous said...

Nothing is Wiltshire's fault. When he first got into politics he approached Wade with demands. Wade laughed and its been on ever since. Wiltshire plays the victim but he can be as arrogant and stubborn as Wade. You don't walk in to politics and make demands without ever having done anything. Spoiled little brat who doesn't care about his people, those who will suffer the most under Gordon. All about you Rod. Hope you crash and burn and everyone turns their back on you.

Has anyone contacted CPS about that poor child wailing in the background of the 911 tape? Heartbreaking.

Anonymous said...

That was Rodney crying. Even he realized Gordon is finished now and he won't be the spoiler.

Anonymous said...

You want to hear some real wailing and crying in the background wait till Steve Madden wins and tell Bill Dunne he's out. Oh baby I can't wait. Can anyone say do you want surround sound with that new home theater?

October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month said...

You know what they say. The woman is in the most danger when she decides to leave. In this situation the danger zone is Nov. 4th, after Jimbo loses. I hope they aend a squad car out to 7th Ave as a precaution.

Anonymous said...

Gordon won't listen to you? You don't operate an effective neighborhood association for 8 years without listening to people. Stick to the Satire! and avoid the bs.

Anonymous said...

Babies under the age of one, usually do wail when mommy & daddy yell and argue. Part of marriage, not child abuse.

Bill Dunn's doing most of the Posts on here its a sham !~~!

Anonymous said...

Squad car? How about a SWAT team for that Hockey loving hot headed retard!
Hold HIM down!

Anonymous said...

How about when daddy holds mommy down until she gets free and calls 911? Yeah that's a normal marital argument. A regular Norman Rockwell painting. Thanks Jim. Keep practicing your spiel for the caseworker.

Anonymous said...

Effective neighborhood organization? Lmao. Put down the crack pipe. Crime in the burgh is out of control. Where are the watch groups walking the hood? Where are the extra patrols the burgh SHOULD be getting? Nowhere. its a sham. Gordon runs that group for his own political ambitions and nothing else. What's he done to bring business to the burgh to increase the tax base ? NOTHING. Jim Gordon is the biggest zero in the history of Lansingburgh. And now we know what kind of family man he is too, don't we.

Concerned voter said...

Being mayor is a pressure filled job. He obviously can't handle it. I don't think either the wife, or worse the child, would be safe if he were elected.

Anonymous said...

8:51. Is that why Madden is now running radio ads that target the Burgh, cause he knows how weak Gordon is?

Anonymous said...

Pretty much. Don't see Madden wasting money in the Burgh if he didn't feel good about the rest of the city

Anonymous said...

Well, we know that McCasshat reads and tries to respond to the Polloi. Must drive the little guy crazy tha D ignores him.

Anonymous said...

Crime is the #1 issue, dumbass. What's your candidate done to bring the crime rate down? Crime is UP since he's been on the council. Cops getting shot. Double murders. Arsonists still at large. Gordon's record sucks. The 'Burgh hates him. He's dead in the water.
