Absentee ballots will now be opened on Wednesday, according to the Times Union.
The delay was requested by Rodney Wiltshire who wanted more time to prepare. The candidate did not detail what preparations were necessary. It's not budget time so he's not on vacation. Apparently Madden is prepared. Everett as well.
Wiltshire may be looking for someone who has been through the absentee ballot opening process, a very formal ceremony usually conducted in medieval Latin, requiring conical hats and lots of incense. There is a strategy to this: what ballots to challenge and when. It is wise to have an experienced person or two with you.
In recent years, the 2007 and 2014 District Attorneys races went to absentee ballots, the former taking a few days. In 2007 McNally retained attorney Jim Long. Tom Kenney was also present to help. GOP candidate Cholakis had an army of attorneys from the New York State Senate Campaign committee, paid for by Joe Bruno. Wiltshire can't afford Long and Kenney was at Ryan's Wake with Madden.
Not sure who the 2014 candidates retained.
We'll check in Wednesday night. Good luck to all three candidates.
MEANWHILE....
Examinations Before Trial (also known as depositions) reveal interesting things.
When former Corrections Officer Kevin Rogers, currently being prosecuted for embezzlement, was rehired in 2004, he received...special treatment. Rogers had not worked for the County for eight years when he was rehired but was able to retain his seniority and all the perks that come with seniority.
We do sympathize somewhat with Rogers. The Troy Polloi was gone for almost eight years but was also able to retain its seniority among local political sites. Although we are not under indictment. Yet.
This is just the beggin. Rodney's only play now is the race card. Ernie took the Wade black votes from Rodney. In a desperate move after the count becomes official Rodney has to reach out to Ernie. To no avail. Rodney went to low in his attempts to burn Ernie and the damage is done with him he is officially an anybody but Rodney man. The 2 left standing will need Ernies support. One needs him to combat Rodney the other needs Rodney to stay in the race and Ernie to work with him. Once Rodney figures out that Ernie is gone then it's race game on. Black votes will matter and Rodney will be in full Victom mode.
ReplyDeleteAren't the Rodgers and Jiminos related some how?
ReplyDeleteNo, but they're very close.
DeleteNo, but they're very close.
DeleteVery very close
DeleteAs usual information in the TU article about Rogers was unnacurate. He lost seniority and years of service credit when he returned after being out injured from a car crash.
ReplyDeleteRemember when the story first broke he was accused of stealing 600k from the union? Now he's charged with spending 3k on a BOD dinner at 677, a table at a boxing match and a donation to the South Troy Dodgers.
The only " witness " against him is Piche who had to make a deal to save his cash cow pizza biz.
The real story should have been about the the sunami of lawsuits crashing in on the county because of Mahar and his mismanaging of the SO.
Rogers sleeps easy, they can't win.
Kevin Rogers thinks he's God's gift to God! He should do jail time. Maybe his old man can have Kathy Gimino get him a job
ReplyDeleteMadden ran the most ineffective campaign imaginable and Rodney still couldn't pull it out. Bye bye Rod. Back to the island of misfit toys. Don't worry you have a future in pool installations.
ReplyDeleteAgreed. For a relatively bright guy, that was a terrible campaign. Jack and Tom better read him the riot act.
DeleteEddie M really shot down the conspiracy theories that Wiltshire was dropping. School locked? Yep. Schools are locked nowadays. How many people thought they could just vote w/o be registered dems?
ReplyDeleteGrasping at straws?
Alan, you would be shocked at how clueless some folks are about voting. I was talking to a young man who is all excited about Sanders. I told him he had to be a Dem to vote in the NY primary. He told me I was wrong, that his dad in NH often switched. I told him NY laws were different, and he laughed and condescendingly told me that was ridiculous, that federal law trumped state laws. Scary.
DeleteIf you were paying attention on Primary Day, Rodney's WFP people were on their Facebook page telling people to just go and vote, and demand provisional ballots if the elections inspectors refused them for being unregistered in the party. They set up this made up argument from the get-go, and now they think that they are going to capitalize on it? Too bad for them that the Wade people took screen shots of the whole thing. Rodney is going down faster than a a $10 whore.
ReplyDeleteI suppose putting a DPWs workers brother, a convicted felon, on the WFP line without his knowledge or approval is better? Once again, the dirty tricks are only okay if it's you washed up, has been, losers who do it. How bout you losers stop reading and commenting if you dislike the blog that much
DeleteNone of the regular Democratic Lawyers in this area will represent Rodney, regardless of cost.
ReplyDeleteRodney paid his campaign managers over $10,000 to convince voters he's not a politician.
Now he'll piss away what's left of his campaign money on Attorneys from out of the area who will charge him to challenge voters that Republican BOE staff won't even sustain.
Just ask Mantello and the two lawyers she refused to pay.
You're all done Rodney.
Going to Court is expensive, and you will lose.
Pack up and go somewhere else where people buy into your bullshit.
I am King of the World. I will ruin Wade and the party machine and all the swimming pools of Troy.
DeleteRodney hired Tom Spargo. Now that is funny. Did anyone tell him Tom's been disbarred for years?
ReplyDeleteSpargo was indicted for bribery and corruption
DeleteAnd became yet another Republican judge tossed off the bench.
DeleteKathy should worry about what else will come out and what else will Mahar say.
ReplyDeleteOY. Are you gonna post about Madden winning the primary by 50 votes??? Really want to know what Troy Polloi's take is. Okay, oaky, I'm getting a little addicted.
ReplyDeleteRodney bites the dust. As does his Dist 5 candidate and the rest of Misfit Team Troy.
ReplyDeleteGo Team Troy.... yeah, gone.
Kopka won!! has McCashions head exploded yet??
ReplyDeleteThey'd make a good couple if you think about it. About the same size.
DeleteGot to love it. Self described life long & "true Democrat" runs against his own party's choice because... uh, well because it's not HIM!
ReplyDeleteIs anyone surprised that Rodney and the Retards didn't win? Imagine opening the door to these fools. Dartlady? People dressed like bums wearing fake red beards? It looked like ZZ Top at a greyhound bus station. Pat Madden is the only responsible adult running. People thinking Jim Gordon has a shot, Wake up! No chance. Jimino pushed a weak GOP candidate to help her brother. The fix was in from day one.
ReplyDeleteZZ Top at Greyhound bus station. Lol
DeleteThis blog is so insightful.
ReplyDeleteHarry gone 4 years.
Don't fucking read it!!!
DeleteI agree on paper Madden looks strong. However, so far he seems to be a very poor campaigner. He does not enjoy it and it shows. His interviews and press releases are often mindless prattle. Rodney could easily grab at least 15% or more. If Pat does not get his Party more enthused and motivated, a good campaign by Gordon would win.
ReplyDeleteIt's not over until Amy O'Connor says it is. No exeptions.
