LOOKS LIKE A THREEWAY

It's not as if we never thought about a threeway, its just that we had something else in mind. Instead, of what we had in mind, this threeway is more like this...

Patrick Madden has secured the Democratic nomination by a mere 50 votes. Rodney Wiltshire has the Working Families Party nomination. James Gordon has the GOP nod. Wiltshire, a good Democrat, has pledged his support to the party's nominee, thereby securing the mayoral for Mr. Madden.

Or not. Just a few hours after barely losing the nomination, Wiltshire stated he would actively campaign and win the mayor's race. This is unfortunate and reinforces some of the negatives people see in Rodney.

1. Wiltshire made this statement after the narrowest loss. A more mature politician may have taken a day or two to absorb the loss. Losing sucks. Losing by a such a close margin sucks X2. You shouldn't make any major decisions for at least a day or two. The knee-jerk reaction doesn't allow for reflection on unintended consequences. Wiltshire needs to ask himself: is he a Democrat; does he want a Republican to win; does he want a future in the party.

2. What does it say about someone who plays by the rules until he loses? Wiltshire is reinforcing his detractor's belief that he is petulant and more interested in self-promotion than what is best for Troy.

3. Wiltshire has a smart option here. What he could do is withdraw from the race, campaign his ass off for Madden and then in four or eight years, he will have the credibility to argue for the endorsement of the party. And, he would have a good argument. Wiltshire's support will diminish as November 3rd approaches. Many of his supporters will know a vote for Wiltshire is a vote for Gordon. That's not what they want and many won't waste their vote.

If Rodney runs and costs the democrats the election, he's done. His future will lie with the Working Families Party and can someone name a win they have achieved in this county? They are not the equivalent of the Conservative Party. They are not as strong, not as organized and not as effective.

We are also happy to report that three of our endorsed candidates prevailed. The much sought after Troy Polloi  endorsement not only lifted Madden to victory, but Lynn Kopka and Carey Dresher. Our only fail was Anasha Cummings and you really can't blame us for that one.

In our Monday morning post we suggested there might be a surprise. Well, the Kopka victory surprised everyone, except us. We figured that the 5th Council District would have a decent amount of absentee ballots and most would go to Kopka.*

The Troy Polloi is back and your patronage is appreciated. Good night and good luck.

*All bullshit really. We figured Kopka was toast.

Is Spargo practicing law for Wiltshire? Was he paid by Wiltshire for legal help? Spargo resigned his license before heading off to jail and has not applied for reinstatement. Maybe Rodney can hold hearing about possible mayoral candidates aiding and abetting the unlicensed practice of law.

So is Doherty, an incumbent, the only Team Troy candidate that won? Looks like the Democrats have a Team Troy and
    the WFP slate ain't it.

Ron thanks for putting your name on it. This help us to realize what an idiot lawyer sounds like. Spargo can advise all he likes and can charge for that advise. Supply and demand bone head. That was the back room at the BOE and the guy with the white hair was Tom Wade not Judge Roy Bean. You can't even recognize it wasn't a court room.

Since Spargo was at the table, it was not a courtroom. Spargo can't sit at the table in a courtroom.

Wade is not a lawyer and is not being paid. However, there are different standards for lawyers and disgraced lawyers that govern their behavior. Perhaps they didn't teach you that at your law school. Spargo cannot go to a deposition and just advise. He cannot 'just advise' on legal matters. He cannot appear and help someone in small claims court. Based on his past lack of familiarity with the ethical standards, not to mention penal law, we shouldn't trust Spargo to stay within the bounds of the law.

    Democratus,

You are all wet here. Wade will never work with Wiltshire, no matter what Wiltshire does. Wade will use Wiltshire like he used Everett. Wade only has one goal. Help Wade. One also might ask Wade and McDonough where all those nursing home absentee ballots gave from. Nice to see you back on the scene.

  8. Best quote of the day:
As to the polling problems alleged by the Wiltshire campaign, Wade said, “People who get overly zealous about a campaign sometimes stretch their imagination to accommodate their desires.”

Okay, now that the lawyers have sparred over Spargo, let's get back to Rodney. You ask what he wants? He wants to win and he is willing to shred everything and everyone who gets in his way. He will nuke the Democratic Party, the other candidates and hell, he even tore up his own signed pledge to run a clean campaign. The WFP is either too dumb or too desperate to recognize what they have taken on. There are 453 registered voters in the WFP, and not one of them seems to be able to do the math and see that they can't win.

If it wasn't for Everett Rodney would be our mayor. Wades dirty tricks cost the only chance Troy has (had) to get out of this murky pond we're in. Drew Cooper I agree 100%, dirty politics at it's worse. I wish Kevin mcgrath ran for mayor. This city and county need to crack down hard on crime, code violations and those lowlife so called fathers who abscond on their child support.

That is hyperbole, whether you like Wade or not. Dirty politics at its worst? In the city that once had Bob Mirch? The County that still has Rich Crist. Even if you think Wade plays dirty, he's a piker compared to 3-Job.

Speaking of election fraud, remember when Harry lived in Troy but voted in Brunswick?

Harry gone, four years, two losses.

Gone four years, couldn't keep the legislature seat handed to him, got trounced twice in elections, got spit on at county building, tanked wife's business, handed a made up, part time job for county, when neutralized he couldn't make a living on part time money and afterlife business closed BOTH were handed full time county jobs, cost city another $80,000 in lawsuit to Bob Fitgerald (love the fact Fitzy used some of that $80,000 to have Coop do his driveway) all in the 4 years since he's been gone. Not to mention what an evil, vindictive, petty, thin skinned, spoiled, egomaniac he was as mayor. So Harry, next time you sign off with your pitiful "been gone four years now, or next time you decide to respond to your own posts (pitiful) add all this scrap you did to it!

Ignoring for a moment the fact that Spargo was convicted of using his judicial position for extortion, the fact that Spargo is a Republican operative who helped Bush steal the election from Gore in 2000, makes it pretty rich that he's helping a "true democrat" investigate election issues.

It's even funnier when you think about how Rodney's WFP called Madden a Republican. Only one candidate in this race has a hardcore Republican fixer in his corner, and it's Rodney.
