SUMMER BREAK

Summer Break time. Nothing much going on. We've had an indictment and another water main break. Ho-hum. It's all rather tiresome. Really nothing all that fun to write about. See you next week.

The Mayor and his administration are keeping the city going, Carm and the Republican Council is doing everything they can to get in their way, while trying to take credit for everything they possible can. If something good happens in Troy that Carm wasn't directly involved in, she pulls her chicken little act, full of hyperbole about the downside of the improvement. Remember how the water main break on Campbell was going to cost us "millions" of dollars!!!!!!!!!!! I think it ended up being $300,00. Just once I would like to hear her say, "Good job" to someone else rather than telling us that someone else's idea or initiative was HER idea. She creates problems so that she can take credit for fixing them.

Joel doing well? What are you on? And can I have some?

    3. Hillary is falling, but our guy is not climbing. I don't really see the Council keeping us going, but I don't exactly see the Mayor leading. Neither side has even begun to address all the issues raised by the SC or the Council's audit.

However, considering how the past year has been for Troy, I suggest the relative lack of news is a good thing. It is nice to see some private investment in Troy, although hotels are not exactly job bonanzas, it is good to see some additional tax base.

9:26. Never mentioned Carmella. Mentioned the republican majority on the council is keeping the city in order. Certainly not Pat aka Lou II. You must have a man-crush going on with Carm. She got some serious space in your head.

Joel hasn't been indicted, hasn't been removed by the Governor, and hasn't been found guilty of an ethics violation by the Grievance Committee - at least not yet. He also hasn't received any bad press this week. Relatively speaking he IS doing well....

Joel Abelove is trembling. Hiding under his desk waiting for the inevitable. His name will be removed from the door before the end of summer. Guaranteed.

How about that new Casale landfill in South Troy. The envelope please

Looking forward to tomorrow times Union story about the Casale landfill. Look more forward to watching the administration blame it on Bill Dunne and Joe mazz. They could also blame Donovan before the story about him the land and FBI gets out. By the way who signed of on the reverter clause in March? Hope it wasn't the ''MAD''en Hatter.

Nice package that Andy Donovan left with from Peter and Lou. $3500 for the land that he has for sale now for $65,000.00. Even Madden helped him out. What did he have 1 year with Troy? I hope Joe Mazz got a gold watch or at least a fruit basket.

NO MORE LOW INCOME HOUSING!! GO AFTER THE SLUMLORDS WHO DON"t PAY THEIR TAXES FOR 3 YEARS THEN BUY BACK THE PROPERTY FROM THE CITY FOR PENNIES ON THE DOLLAR AND THEN START ALL OVER AGAIN. ENOUGH IS FUCKIN' ENOUGH. WONDER WHY WE HAVE SO MUCH CRIME? TAKE A LOOK AT THE LANDLORD LIST AND SEE WHO IS MAKING BIG MONEY HOUSING ALL THESE CREEPS.

I will never defend the city over their actions BUT you can not lose your propert to back taxes and then go bid on it to get it back. That has never happened.

  23. This is the second time in a year a city employee buying property from the city looks less than kosher. In the case involving former mayor Tutunjian, at least there was an argument to be made for an owner-occupant versus an investor.

However, no one looks good on this latest clusterf***. Selling a property to someone involved in the process of making it available was very poor judgment. Pat did himself no favors with the jargon-laden responses. I get he may have been up to his ass with the proverbial alligators and missed the problems. Accept limited responsibility, blast the previous administration and council, and promise that the process(es) will be reformed and more transparent. Is that Russ Reeves I hear saying "I told you so?"

9:56 I beg to differ with you. I know of one property that has been re-deemed TWICE before if went for auction. Trust me it happens.

    ReplyDelete
  26. Anonymous6:52 PM

The reason so much does not happen in this city is because there are too damn many "CONNECTED" people who own rental property and are raking in $$$$ of monthly revenues from subsidized & section 8 housing. They are all afraid of losing their monthly income so they keep quiet and look the other way when their dirt bag renters cause problems.

    ReplyDelete
  27. Anonymous8:53 PM

There is a huge difference between redeeming property (when tax foreclosure has not been finalized, and payment of back taxes AND INTEREST is made in full by the owner) and bidding on a formally foreclosed property. The city has an ordinance that forbids a bid from anyone who owes money for back taxes on ANY property in the city from bidding on ANY OTHER foreclosed property. That ordinance has been in effect for about a decade now.

Off topic and so not local. How does a president who was impeached for lying to Congress and the American public get to stand up and address the nation at the DNC touting his criminal wife for president. This scumbag was getting oral sex from an intern in the Oval Office and has NEVER ever had to explain his actions. Go away Bill Clinton and take that lying cheating criminal wife with you!

Our behavior as a community needs to change. We need to care about each other and make Troy proud. Clean out debts and bad deals and call out the citizens who aren't taking their steps to this common goal. So there's that.

    1. Folks, you do not have to be erudite and possess a 125 IQ to be an effective district Councilman. If a guy/gal works reasonable hours, focuses on their committee responsibilities, and keeps an open mind, they can do fine.

      Delete
    2. Anonymous5:45 PM

An IQ over 75 would be nice. Maybe we're asking too much.

      Delete
    3. Come on 5.45, I rag on IQ's more than anyone and 75 is a little over the top. 5.05 that's a very good point. Obviously, one should do his/her homework prior to running, but job and/or spousal work situations can change. In addition, party leaders and even prior office holders can be less than candid about the commitments.

The people we have on the council represent Troy just fine.does someone seriously think this is easy? Try it and raise a family and see how easy it is! So there's that.

    1. Some people who sit on councils and boards just go through the motions. Granted, they are a minority and typically get pushed aside unless their party has a big majority. However, your point is accurate.
